Date: Fri, 27 Oct 2000 16:20:24 -0400 (EDT) From: wmr@ici.net Subject: Nejug Meeting Recap This message is going out to all Nejug Members. First, I wanted to extend a special thanks to the Nejug members who spoke last night: Bill Rushmore (JSP/Servlets/EJB), Tom Cooper (XML and eXtreme Programming), Chris Janicki (RMI/Applets/Swing), Charlie Alfred (Servlets/EJB/RMI/JNDI), Vik Solem (Servlets and Security), Munish Gandhi (WML/Servlets/XML/WAP), Bob Andreasen/Andrew Smith (JTAPI), Michael Bushe (J2EE/XML/EJB) They all did an excellent job presenting the applications, architectures, and issues each faced using Java in the real world. I would also like to extend a thank you to Mary Varney at Addison-Wesley for providing the Java Alamacs for the raffle, and for the books for each speaker. Thanks also go to Apex Consulting Group for the pizza, and to Dave Urry from eSprocket for all the great t-shirts. The web site is now updated with the November 16th meeting, so please register at http://www.nejug.org/registration.htm if you are planning on attending. As a reminder, well known author Martin Fowler (http://www.martinfowler.com) will be speaking on the topic of Refactoring: Improving the design of existing code. Addison-Wesley will be giving away some of his books during the meeting. Also please note that the meeting starts at 6:00pm, not 5:30. Lastly, be sure to refresh your browser when viewing the Nejug pages, as they change frequently. You can view the November calendar page on the Nejug web site or http://www.refactoring.com for more information. Kim Obregon from Java Report Magazine is offering members of the Nejug a discounted rate for Java Report subscriptions. If you are interested, please go to https://subscribe.101com.com/java/specialoffer.asp?c=ane. As I receive presentation materials from the October speakers I will post them on the October Calendar page so you can review them. I hope to see you at the November meeting!
