Details and directions are available at http://www.acm.org/chapters/webtech. The feature presentation will be given by our own Dennis McCarthy, who organized and started the WebTech group 5 years ago. The topic of the presentation using XML and style-sheets to create internet applications that are accessible on a variety of internet-enabled devices, including hand-held organizers and internet cell phones. This is a great presentation that offers a lot of insight into the future of internet communications. Abstract: The Internet has entered a period of transition. Up until recently, using the Internet meant sitting down at a computer and running a web browser or e-mail application. Now people are accessing the Internet from cellular phones, PDA's, and even voice phone calls. This creates two challenges: how do we design web sites that can support this diversity of devices, and how do we implement our designs (without creating a separate version of the web site for each type of device). This talk will focus on the latter problem, with emphasis on COTS technologies and products. ------------------------------------------- Related Announcements There will also be a meeting of the NEJUG on Thursday, June 22 at Sun in Burlington, beginning at 5:30.
