Everyone has the chance to introduce themselves, tell the group about their interests and any special projects they might have going, and ask questions. This month Jim Rand will present the use of MS Excel to enter data into an MS Access database. This allowed an entrepreneur who had a string of stores to automate a centralized sales reporting and anlalysis system. Like Wilson Thomas' application described last month, it is an example of how open software can be used with other open software to create very useful solutions to real business problems. Jim's presentation is titled "Distributed Data Collection Using Microsoft Office" and will cover the topics: Data entry at store locations using Excel - Why and How Sales history database using Access Database design Inquiry screens and reports Data import using Excel as an ActiveX automation object Integration with Platinum accounting Query pass-through Data pumping using native ODBC API (simplified) Hope to see you there - Bob Young
