From: Titelbaum, Alan Subject: Effective Software Inspections-NESQAF MEETING January 11,2000 Date: Thursday, December 30, 1999 11:25 AM NOTICE OF UPCOMING NESQAF MEETING New England Software Quality Assurance Forum Meeting Meeting Date: January 11, 2000 - 6:30-9:00 PM Refreshments served 6:00-6:30 PM Topic: Effective Software Inspections Presenter: Howie Dow Abstract: Conventional wisdom suggests that individuals who are familiar with the product being inspected must accomplish formal software inspections, also known as Fagan or Fagan style inspections. Contrary to that wisdom, formal software inspections can be effectively conducted by teams including members who lack in-depth product knowledge. In fact, the differing viewpoint provided by those without detailed product knowledge may offer a more robust inspection. This talk will provide data suggesting that a properly prepared and trained team can achieve an effective inspection even though they are not familiar with the details of the product or even the domain of the product.
