One thing is certain, though: the "revolutionary" technologies businesspeople are interested in are those that promise more customers, more sales, smaller costs, and a better bottom line. The next Web-Net meeting on February 8 will features talks on two such revolutionary technologies: recommendation engines and financial ASPs. Dan Ross, president and CEO of Manna, will talk about "Internet relationship management": ways businesses can long-term relationships with customers and create truly "sticky" Web sites. Manna's goal is to provide online businesses with relationship management products will help them improve customer retention, provide better service and increase sales. Their first product, FrontMind for Marketing, is for the e-commerce market. Ross was formerly vice president of sales for Open Market, and previously worked at PictureTel and Digital. Alexis Kopikis and Shawn Henry of WorldStreet Corporation will talk about their company, the first global Applications Service Provider (ASP) exclusively for the financial industry, delivering dynamic, web-based solutions that streamline workflow, content, and communication for financial industry professionals and their clients. WorldStreet Sales, an innovative, web-based customer relationship management (CRM) solution specifically designed for the securities industry, can be delivered as a remotely hosted application for a fixed monthly fee, or as an enterprise solution installed at the client site. Kopikis previously worked for ING Barings and Investment Placement Group; Henry was previously a Principal Consultant for NetNumina Solutions, a spinoff of Borland. This month's meeting will be held Tuesday, February 8, in a slightly different room than past Web-Net meetings: Room E51-395, just down the hall from our usual location on the third floor of Building E51 at MIT's Sloan School. Plenty of free parking is available and the building is a short walk from the Kendall/MIT stop on the Red Line.
