We meet at 7:00pm on Thursday, August 10, at Microsoft, 6th floor, 230 Third Ave., Waltham MA. No meeting on our regular fourth Wednesday of the month date. Tamar Granor "Automating Microsoft Office" Automation lets you drive one application from another. The Microsoft Office applications can be run from within Visual FoxPro to provide tools for reporting, presentations, graphing and more. Tamar E. Granor, Ph.D., co-author of Microsoft Office Automation with Visual FoxPro (Hentzenwerke Publishing), will introduce the tools needed to get started with automation and to learn about automating the Office applications. She'll look at ways to explore the Office object models, including the VBA Help files, the Macro Recorder and the Object Browser. She'll also examine the differences between VBA code and the Visual FoxPro code you write to automate the Office apps. She'll also look at some Office Automation tasks you can perform, using Word, Excel and Outlook as the Automation server. Tamar is Technical Editor and co-author of FoxPro Advisor magazine's Answers column. She is co-author (with Della Martin) of Microsoft Office Automation with Visual FoxPro, and (with Ted Roche) the Hacker's Guide to Visual FoxPro 6.0, winner of the Visual FoxPro Developer's Choice award. Both books are available from Hentzenwerke Publishing (www.hentzenwerke.com).
