When your company needs some information, and there is no report that will retrieve it, Ad Hoc queries can be a life saver. You can use SQL statements to retrieve the data. MS Access is a great tool for doing this. It can be used to generate the SQL, then the SQL can be used as part of a Visual Basic for Applications program to accomplish the task. The reason this is that it's a great way to insure that you are getting the results you want. At any time you can review the SQL to recall to mind exactly what it is the procedure does. This is especially true when more than one SQL sort or filter must be done in order to construct the report. It can be very complicated, and this is a great way to insure valid results. When you're through, you've generated a nice MS Access application that at the press of a button will produce the report any time you want it. Plus it will serve as a base for modification to meet new information needs in the future. MS Access 2000 has some very nice features. Let's talk about them, and see how they can be used to make your company more productive. Companies are finding that the collaboration features are an excellent way to speed communications and make their company more efficient and profitable. Please let me know what you'd like to see in May. Thanks - Sincerely, Bob Young Summit Computing Associates 55 Ocean Boulevard Hampton, NH 03842 Tel 603-929-7964 rjyoung@javanet.com
